Mental Health First Aid training for real workplaces
A practical, nationally recognised course that gives your team the confidence to spot the signs, start the conversation, and know what to do next. Delivered on-site, off-site, or online. Content tailored to the group.
By the end of the training, delegates will:
-
Learn to spot the early changes in behaviour, mood and performance that can signal a colleague is finding things hard, often well before they say anything.
-
Practise simple, practical ways to open up a conversation, listen without fixing, and respond in a way that helps someone feel heard rather than judged.
-
Explore how stress shows up in the body, mind and behaviour, the difference between pressure and stress, and practical steps to manage it for yourself and your team.
-
Build a clear understanding of conditions such as anxiety and depression, what they can look like in the workplace, and how to respond with empathy.
-
Understand the limits of your role, when to encourage someone to seek further support, and where to point them, from GPs and EAPs to crisis services.
-
Look at the everyday habits, language and behaviours that make it safe for people to talk about their mental health, and the part everyone can play in creating that culture.
“I recently completed my Mental Health First Aid certification as part of some Company Training, with Sekular, and I cannot recommend them enough! The training was incredibly well-structured, engaging, and handled with a wonderful balance of professionalism and deep empathy.
Sarah created an open, supportive space where everyone felt comfortable asking questions and discussing challenging topics. I left the course feeling confident, equipped, and truly prepared to offer mental health support in both my personal and professional life.”
Your training options
Team Training
Accredited training for your team, suitable for all levels, in person or online. It covers how to recognise warning signs, respond with confidence, and contribute to a genuinely positive mental health culture at work.
Manager Training
The same qualification, shaped around what managers specifically need to know — the impact they have on their team’s mental health, how to improve mental health culture and how to open the difficult conversations.
Open Courses
Only got one or two people to train? Join an open course alongside other businesses, in person or online. It’s the same accredited training, with the added benefit of learning in a mixed group.
Trained, or qualified? You choose
Everyone who takes part in a course leaves with practical, confident skills: how to notice when someone’s struggling, how to start that conversation, and how to point them towards the right support. That’s true whether or not you go on to sit the formal assessment.
If your team wants the nationally recognised qualification too, that’s built in — a short assessment at the end leads to the FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health (RQF), valid for three years. It’s awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA), an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation, and delivered through Nuco Training, in line with HSE workplace guidance. If not, that’s fine. There’s no pressure either way; the goal is a workplace that’s better equipped to look after each other, with or without the certificate.
